I indicated in a previous post that I find it hard to separate ministry, missions and evangelism because they should all be a part of the daily Christian life that is built into the Great Commission. I was reminded of an example of that this week when Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief volunteers were called into action after flash floods struck Louisville.
A freak weather pattern left a massive thunderstorm stalled right over the heart of the city which received about six inches of rain in just over an hour. This resulted in streets turned to rivers in the course of just a few minutes and hundreds of homes and businesses flooded.
As they are in just about every instance of major disaster, Southern Baptists were quickly on the scene to begin to bring hope to victims by helping to clean up the mess, restore order and share the love of Jesus. Check out this video produced by Larry Brannin, the Kentucky Baptist Convention’s media production associate to see some of the work. (The disaster relief work is ongoing and expanding at this time.)

I am so blessed to be part of the Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief team and even though I didn’t get to help in Louisville I am so thankful for those that went and showed the Love of Christ with those in need!
